The CCME Strategic Workplan sets out a high-level agenda in keeping with the strategic direction defined by ministers.  The plan identifies key objectives, outlines desired outcomes that ministers would like to see, and lists the initiatives to be undertaken in collective work through CCME that will contribute to achieving those results.  While CCME's core objectives will remain relatively constant over time, the workplan addressing them will be renewed on a regular basis to reflect changing priorities and new developments. 

Environmental issues are numerous and many different organizations are working to address environmental concerns.  This workplan reflects the need for CCME to limit its agenda and to focus its resources in order to make real progress.  CCME undertakes work that no one else can do, or work to which it can provide a unique contribution or is particularly suited.  Items on the CCME agenda must be national and intergovernmental in nature, and of interest to a significant portion of CCME member jurisdictions.
