CCME has posted Canada-wide Standards for Mercury Emissions from Coal-fired Electric Power Generation Plants: 2013/14 Progress Report.
CCME endorsed the Canada-wide Standards for Mercury Emissions from Coal-fired Electric Power Generation Plants in 2006. The Canada-wide standards set targeted caps for each jurisdiction with coal-fired electric power generation plants for the year 2010.
The 2013/14 Progress Report presents information on the attainment of 2010 emissions caps under the CWS and demonstrates that provinces have made significant progress on reducing mercury emissions from coal-fired power generation plants. In 2014 the capture rate was 67%, which exceeds the Canada-wide standards target of 60% capture from existing facilities by 2010.
