Mercury Emissions

Canada-wide Standards (CWSs) for Mercury Emissions were endorsed by CCME in 2000. The standards address both existing and new facilities in the waste incineration and base metal smelting sectors. Waste incineration sectors include hazardous waste, sewage sludge, municipal waste, and medical waste.

Implementation Plans
Each jurisdiction is required to develop an implementation plan which describes what actions will be taken to implement a CWS and achieve compliance by the deadline set for the standard.

Alberta

Canada

Manitoba

New Brunswick

Newfoundland and Labrador

Ontario

Prince Edward Island

Saskatchewan

Note: As Quebec is not a signatory to the Canada-wide Accord on Environmental Harmonization nor the Canada-wide Standards, it is not required to develop an implementation plan.
