The main project activities include task force meetings and workshops
in Russia on specific subjects, and missions from Russia to Canada to study
the Canadian experience.
Specific activities in the next six months include:
Moscow:
May, 1999 A mission to Atlantic Canada to attend a conference on Municipal
solid waste management and tour re-cycling, composting and sorting facilities.
June, 1999 A workshop in Moscow on the economic and legal framework
for solid waste management.
Sept., 1999 A workshop in Moscow on the design of waste polygons, or
on generating revenue from MSW.
Oct., 1999 A mission to Canada examining waste management polygon design
and/or product stewardship programs.
Irkutsk:
Sept., 1999 A workshop regarding the development, use and attainment
of environmental quality objectives, and data management.
Oct.,1999 A mission to Canada examining the use and attainment of environmental
quality guidelines, and data management.
